Sewing Machine

This is a Hello Kitty sewing machine. I’ve been a little sewing machine myself lately. (See what I did there?) I’m working on a costume and I’m winging it like nobody’s business. And did I mention there’s a deadline? Well there is. Nothing like a ticking clock to make you bust a move.

I’ll share my costume in a few days. Honestly – I can hardly believe how well it’s going. It’s almost like I know what I’m doing!

Just Because…

Today is National Just Because Day in America. Why? Just Because.

I’ve decided to pull out my sewing machine and some fabric I’ve had for a while. I also have a couple of pillow forms in my craftin’ cubby. So I’m a-gonna make me some new pillows. Why? Just Because.

And I’m gonna love those pillows, too. Just Because.

By the way, I do not have a Hello Kitty sewing machine, and that’s a darned shame. Why? Just Because.

Hello Kitty!

Over the weekend my friend Nicole and I went to the Hello Kitty exhibit at the Japanese American National Museum in downtown Los Angeles. Located in the Little Tokyo section of town, the museum is just lovely and I can’t believe it has taken me this long to visit.

I had no idea what to expect, but that being said, I was still blown away. The exhibit featured everything from the coin purse that started it all in 1974 to a recent gi-normous sculpture.

In between, we saw about a jillion other items, such as a shredder…

Feminine napkins (for reals)…

A bowling ball…

And various factoids…

Some of the items shown were downright nuts. Like these “personal massagers”…

When all was said and done, we were grinning from ear-to-ear and happy as denuded larks in a thistle patch.

I’m so glad Nicole and I decided to let our inner children play for an afternoon. And I’m not gonna kid ya – I may have to get myself some Hello Kitty shoes.

Word. I mean Meow.
